10 Best Apps for Rooted Android Devices

The process of rooting (gaining full administrative access) to your Android tablet or phone can be a challenge, involving a series of sometimes-complicated steps that vary by device. However, if you’ve taken the plunge, you can not only install a new version of the OS (aka a ROM), but also run a boatload of apps that take advantage of this higher permission level. With the right apps from Google Play, you can overclock your CPU, take video screen shots or even plug a mouse into the tiny microUSB slot on your phone.

This great little app allows you to back up not just your entire device but also specific apps and their app data.Titanium Backup is especially useful when you install a new ROM and don't feel like reinstalling each app you had previously.
You can also automatically schedule backups, move apps to the SD Card to make more room on the internal storage, and sync app data with DropBox or Google Drive. So if you lose your device, you can still get your apps back once you replace it.

SetCPU

SetCPU is a great app for controlling your device's CPU and GPU speed. You can use this app in conjunction with custom ROMs, kernels, or even on it's own to do a little overclocking (to make the device perform better), undervolting (to make the battery last longer), or setting different profiles so the device utilizes its processor more efficiently.

NoBloat

How frustrating is it that you can't remove the apps that your wireless carrier put on your Android device before you even got it out of the box? Crapware apps take up space, annoy you in your app drawer, and some even run in the background, eating up valuable system resources and slowing down your system. NoBloat allows you to uninstall any preloaded apps, removing every last trace of them or keeping a backup just in case you change your mind. You just can't beat the feeling of finally deleting unwanted titles like the Amazon shopping app, VZ Navigator or AT&T Yellow Pages.

LMT Launcher

LMT Launcher is a gorgeous semi-circle shaped overlay that pops up to give you quick access to shortcuts and settings from any screen. Using LMT Launcher, you can activate the keyboard, toggle your wifi/bluetooth/data connections, launch a search, move between open apps, and much more. You can also set custom gestures that activate commands when you trace different shapes on the screen.

StickMount

Ever wish you could use take a USB Flash drive, plug it into your Android phone, download the data you need off of it directly onto the device, and then continue on your way? With StickMount you can do just that and more with a number of different Android devices. When paired with an OTG cable or adapter, the app allows you to mount USB devices through your phone or tablet's microUSB port, including hard drives, keyboards and mice.

Greenify

Greenify can help you increase your performance and battery life by identifying apps and tasks that are running in the background, and using up system resources for no reason. You can also use it to make sure these apps remain in hibernation when not in active use. Greenify also helps you recognize possible malware and remove it.

System Tuner

System Tuner allows you to take total control of your device's configuration in a way the built-in Android settings app can't match.  It even lets you see how long processes have been running, find hidden processes, and check the temperature of your processors.

GMD Gesture Control

With GMD Gesture Control, you can create multi-finger gestures that you can use on any screen to launch apps, change settings, and navigate your device. Unlike the LMT Launcher, which also has custom gestures, GMD does not place a visible menu on top of the screen. Memorize your gestures and just go at it. One, two, three, and four finger gestures can be used as well as drawing different shapes to create different commands.

Screencast Video Recorder

You can always take still screenshots from your Android device with certain button combonations, but what about screen recordings? Screencase Video Recorder lets you capture everything that is happening on your device's screen and output it to a file you can share anywhere. Use this app for creating tutorials, showcasing your amazing round of Angry Birds, or whatever else tickles your fancy.

Root Call Blocker Pro

If telemarketers, ex-girlfriends, or debt collectors just won't stop calling, Root Call Blocker Pro could be just the ticket. The app allows you to not only set certain numbers as blocked from calling or texting you, but also allows you to determine HOW they are blocked and when they are blocked. You can even configure Root Call Blocker to let it ring on the caller's end so they don't know you've blocked them.
